Where is the balance?
Pickup has changed a lot over the years, but there still remains a confusion between direct and indirect game and which to choose. In this video I discuss why both extremes aren’t a good option, and what my personal calibrated preference is.
Avoid The Extremes
One thing to keep in mind is that extremism is never a good solution. Some people prefer to be super direct and others prefer to be super indirect. I think this is a losing battle.
What really needs to happen in an interaction is for you to show your intent, without spelling it out word for word. The guys who go to direct run into the issue of being rejected way too often because they are simply not socially calibrated and ‘weird’.
Then on the other end of the scale those who are too indirect, beat around the bush too long, the girl never gains any interest because this guy is simply not showing his intentions and isn’t trust worthy, so he ends up wasting 4 hours of his night speaking to someone he’ll never so much as touch.
Generally speaking, my preferred approach is to be grounded as to who I am, show my intent with demeanor, make a few jokes, keep an overall positive interaction and have fun. Direct game, with a hint of indirect if you will.
